Why attendance is important

At Hardwick Primary School, we want all children to have the best possible attendance to enable each and every child to reach their full potential in the future.

There is a strong link between good school attendance and achieving good results for children. We also know that regular school attendance is one of the best ways of protecting a child’s mental and physical health and laying down strong foundations for their long-term wellbeing. Children who frequently miss school may fall behind in their work which may affect their future prospects.

We know that parents/ careres are critical in ensuring that children achieve in education, and that we need to work together with parents/carers to support our children to attend school and to be successful. We want all parents/carers to help their children by making sure they attend school every day and arrive on time. Doing this will ensure that your child feels confident, up to date with learning, and up to date with their circle of friends.

We understand that it is sometimes difficult to get your child into school. If you are struggling, for whatever reason, support and guidance is always available through the Family Support Team in school. Please don't be afraid to contact the Family Support Team about your child's attendance or other issues and tell them about anything that may be happening at home which could affect your child's attendance.

Good communication between you and school is good for your child's education!

Attendance Policy and Guidance
Hardwick Primary School has a robust policy in place for the attendance of our children. This policy details our practice and values shared by every member of staff in our school.

Hardwick’s Attendance Policy was developed following DfE Working Together to Improve School Attendance and Keeping Children Safe in Education
